Anyway, i have my old Start Frontiers manuals and a couple of modules from way back when we used to play. Still in pretty good shape. Don't ever use it thoughJasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04165925319755504358noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2589165667013235064.post-79959644530061248622021-01-13T09:14:34.235-05:002021-01-13T09:14:34.235-05:00Remember, never look a Sathar in the eye.Remember, never look a Sathar in the eye.perdustinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05842738630442736894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2589165667013235064.post-37087354136501428752021-01-13T00:47:45.807-05:002021-01-13T00:47:45.807-05:00The combat sequence seems pretty cumbersome and I ...The combat sequence seems pretty cumbersome and I doubt it's how we actually played it when I was 10 - 12. I think what they were going for was the ability to fire at someone moving from A to B across your field of fire. Not really done back in the TSR games of the 80's. Most systems now let you hold a "react" to do this but maybe this was their attempt to allow the same thing for a whole team? The declare and react makes me think of an Avalon Hill game, Magic Realm for some reason. A lot of the rules then seemed to be trying to take DnD's combat and add a little more choice. I found a fellow starting up the Volturus story via PbP. I'm sure I'll get to see how it actually plays out. Kinda looking forward to it actually.kid_krakenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03593901889583880163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2589165667013235064.post-61906990764163538352020-08-29T17:15:20.340-04:002020-08-29T17:15:20.340-04:00If it was merely declaring I would agree with you,...If it was merely declaring I would agree with you, but this is declaring as well as moving. Are you suggesting the slower contestant on Family Feud has the advantage? Of course not; it isn't logical.perdustinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05842738630442736894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2589165667013235064.post-35188303420162799082020-08-28T15:13:49.978-04:002020-08-28T15:13:49.978-04:00Losing initiative and declaring your actions gives...Losing initiative and declaring your actions gives the other side the advantage, and was fairly common in games. So, I'd replace segment 3-5 with:

3. Side A may move. Any characters who move will not be able to shoot for the rest of the turn. Characters on side B may be able to shoot at opponents who move through their field of fire.

4. Side B moves. Also, note that the side without initiative has to choose whether to stay in one place and therefore be able to react to the movement of the side with initiative and fire at them while they move, while the side with initiative gets to both fire at moving figures from the other side and then also move themselves.

For myself, I'd probably choose to allow the side with initiative to choose whether to move before or after the losing side, but I'd leave in place the restriction that a figure can't make reaction fire after it has already moved in that turn itself.faoladhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03691952430041394614noreply@blogger.com
